Announcement
On behalf of the Department for Education, Arts Council England announced on 7th May 2024 a new generation of Music Hubs, covering every part of England.
Subsequently, the details of the new London West Music Hub (LWMH) were announced. The LWMH will formally start on 1st September 2024.
A new Hub Lead Organisation
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has been appointed as the Hub Lead Organisation (HLO) by Arts Council England as part of a consortium agreement across seven Local Authorities:
Brent
Ealing
Hammersmith and Fulham
Harrow
Hillingdon
Kensington and Chelsea
Westminster
This covers five existing Music Services/Hubs, which can be accessed by clicking the links below:
Brent
Ealing
Harrow
Hillingdon
Tri-borough (Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster)
All five existing music services/hubs will continue to deliver locally. They will operate under a new strategic vision and LWMH Governance Board that will guide the services towards increasingly shared provision over time. This might include joint CPD/training, a single approach to Safeguarding, some shared performance events, ensembles or holiday courses, for example. There is a lot of work to do to allow the new structure to evolve to best meet the needs of our stakeholders across all seven local authorities.
Our ambition is to maintain all current existing services and ensure that all our combined students, schools, teachers, and families continue to receive outstanding music education in our West London community. For us to collectively deliver a high-quality music education for all learners, it is essential that schools, families, partner organisations, students, and the community work together with the LWMH. We look forward to achieving this with you all.
More information and details about the LWMH will be added to this page in the coming year.
